Tubes!

February 5, 2009 at 7:11 pm (Uncategorized)

Tomorrow my son has to get tubes put in his ears! Yikes! I don’t really even know what that means or how it helps because my mom always told me not to put stuff in my ears but now I realize it was all a LIE!? You can put stuff in your ears other than q-tips and in ear monitors (for all you musicians out there). I encourage all of you. Try putting some stuff in your ears! You can try a pencil or a stick. You can try a remote control or a water nose! Why not try some peanut butter or wd40? I cannot even begin to tell you how my life has changed since this deception has been exposed. I feel like a new person. I can’t hear as well but who cares? There’s stuff in my ears and nobody can take that away from me! I hope my son is as excited about putting tubes in his ears as he is about putting stuff in his mouth. I guess we will wait and see.

Ok- here’s the deal!

February 3, 2009 at 5:06 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

Last week our entire staff was encouraged to do a 15 minute log of our workday…this is hard! Because much of the time I should be logging – I’m working! Still, I have been trying to keep and today at the end of the day I looked at my log and I realized something that I seem to realize weekly but never put into context. I HAVE TOO MANY MEETINGS! By percentage I probably spend about 65-75 percent of my work (non-service) time in meetings…….that’s dumb. So now I am going to embark on a journey to purge myself of these things and get my weekly percentage down to 40 percent. 40 percent feels good to me. Maybe I can be more productive if I’m actually taking time to produce. We will see!

This is what I could be doing if I didn't have so many meetings!

New Tricks

January 30, 2009 at 6:06 am (Uncategorized)

Confus-edIt’s been an incredible week for me and some staff members at our church! Many of our directors and pastors have finally taken the plunge and are using some of the latest communication tools to reach out to others and it is awesome to see. I decided that’s it’s time for me to use some new tools. I’m already on facebook and was on myspace at one time (until the spammers got me) but now I’m going to start getting my thoughts on electronic paper and hopefully encourage would be readers of this blog. I figure – why not? I don’t always get to communicate with as many people during the week as I would like so this is a great way to connect. I hope to have some blogs up soon!
